30 Seconds Over Chicago is an advertising club & competition, and this fall we invitied local filmmakers, copywriters & musicians to collaborate in making 30 second commercials for 36 of Chicago's venues that showcase original music.

The goal of this competition was to express through a 30-second spot the unique personality of each Chicago venue. Participation was open, and the process was in stages. First, each venue posted a brief to give the writers creative & strategic direction. People posted their "pitches," and then each venue selected their favorite idea. If you got picked you had a month to build your team and make that commercial. All of the ads premiered at the Double Door in a "Mad Men meets American Idol" finale, with judging by 3 creative directors. The event was broadcast live, and the judges & audience voted for the winner. First place was Schubas, and filmmaker Logan Cascia won $1000. Second place was Old Town School of Folk Music, and Evey, Grace & Tina won $350. Third place was Jerry's, and Chris Hauser, Jessica Mondres, & Alexandra Wolf shared $150.
